Terms of Use

1. Agreement

By downloading or using SoulType, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. These terms are between you and the SoulType operator ("we", "us"). The Privacy Policy is part of them.

2. Who may use SoulType

You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher age of digital consent where you live. If you are under 18, use SoulType only with the permission of a parent or guardian. SoulType is a reflective self-understanding tool for a general audience; it is not built for, or marketed to, children.

3. Not medical advice

Every assessment, score, report and coach reply in SoulType — and the website quiz at /quiz and the reading it generates — is a reflective tool for self-understanding. The web quiz is a short teaser, not one of the app's seven assessments, and it issues no type code. Nothing in the app or on this website is medical, psychiatric or psychological advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment, and nothing it says should be used to decide on care. Do not disregard advice from a qualified professional because of something you read here, and do not delay seeking it.

4. Your account and codes

SoulType works without an account. If you sign in with Apple, you are responsible for what happens on your device and under your account, and for keeping your device passcode to yourself. A transfer code is a temporary password for moving your data to a new device: keep it private while it is valid, because anyone holding it can take over the account. Codes are single-use and expire seven days after they are created, and the iOS app can only send data out with one — importing on iOS happens through Sign in with Apple instead. A share ID is the opposite — it is meant to be given away, so publish only codes you are happy for others to open.

5. Purchases and subscriptions

• All payments are charged to your Apple ID by Apple, at the price shown in the app for your storefront.
• SoulType Pro is an auto-renewing subscription (annual or monthly). It renews automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period; your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within the 24 hours before it starts.
• Manage or cancel the subscription in your App Store account settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the current period.
• If a free trial is offered and you buy a subscription, any unused trial time is forfeited.
• One-off report and analysis unlocks are non-consumable: they stay with your Apple ID, and "Restore purchases" brings them back on a new device.
• Refunds are decided by Apple under its policy, not by us.
• Pro includes the features described in the app at the time you buy. We keep adding to that list, and we may change or retire individual features; if we make a change that materially reduces what Pro includes, we will say so in the app.

6. Nicknames, share IDs and community rules

A nickname you set is visible to other people: it is printed on the share cards you export from your device, and on any report you publish with a share ID. So:

• Do not use a nickname that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, misleading, or that impersonates someone else.
• Do not publish another person's report, or a code belonging to someone else, without their permission.
• Do not use share IDs to spam, threaten or deceive anyone.

We filter nicknames when you set one and again before a report is published, and we refuse ones that break these rules. No filter is complete, so every published share also carries a Report this share action: tapping it sends us the share ID and a reason, and hides that share on your device straight away. You can unblock it later from the same screen. Reporting is anonymous — we do not record who reported what, so we cannot tell the person who shared it either.

You can also email support@soul-type.app with the share ID and what is wrong with it. We can remove any published row, and we will suspend or terminate accounts that abuse these rules. Reports are reviewed as quickly as we can, normally within a few days.

7. Acceptable use

When using SoulType, don't:

• scrape, harvest or bulk-read published reports, or try to enumerate share IDs by automated means;
• attempt to access another person's account, data or reports;
• copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the app, except where the law says you may;
• abuse the public web quiz, drive it with automated requests at scale, or try to bypass its rate limits;
• interfere with the app or the service, overload it, or use it to break any law; or
• present the app's output as professional advice to other people.

We may suspend access to the cloud features, or remove published content, if you do any of these things.

8. Our content and trademarks

The app, its text, designs, share-card layouts, illustrations and the name SoulType belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.

The frameworks the assessments are built on — the four-letter typology, the IPIP-NEO Big Five, Jungian cognitive functions, the two-dimensional attachment model, the five love languages and the dark triad — are public-domain or published research. MBTI is a registered trademark of The Myers-Briggs Company, and The Five Love Languages is a registered trademark of its publisher; SoulType is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, those companies or any other test publisher.

9. Your content

Your answers and results are yours. You give us only the permission we need to do what you ask: to sync your data when you sign in, to publish a report when you create a share ID, and to keep those things until you delete them. When you use the website quiz and ask for a reading, you likewise allow us to send your six selections to our AI service to generate it, as described in the Privacy Policy; the server keeps only an IP hash and a timestamp to rate-limit the endpoint, not your answers. We do not use your results in marketing or sell them to anyone.

10. Availability and changes

SoulType is provided as-is and may change: features can be added, altered or removed. The parts that live on your device keep working offline; the optional cloud features need a network and our servers to be up. You may stop using SoulType at any time, and delete your data from Settings. We may suspend or end the service, and if we do, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export or delete your data.

11. Disclaimers and limits

SoulType is provided without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that any result, reading or coach reply is accurate, complete or right for you, and you are responsible for the decisions you make.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of SoulType. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — and nothing removes consumer rights you have where you live.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the SoulType operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.

13. Apple and the App Store

These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any) — to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and can enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list.
