These terms cover the SoulType iPhone app and this website: what you may do with it, what you buy when you buy something, and what happens to the reports you choose to share.
By downloading or using SoulType, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. These terms are between you and the SoulType operator ("we", "us"). The Privacy Policy is part of them.
You must be at least 13 years old, or the higher age of digital consent where you live. If you are under 18, use SoulType only with the permission of a parent or guardian. SoulType is a reflective self-understanding tool for a general audience; it is not built for, or marketed to, children.
Every assessment, score, report and coach reply in SoulType is a reflective tool for self-understanding. Nothing in the app is medical, psychiatric or psychological advice, a diagnosis, or a treatment, and nothing it says should be used to decide on care. Do not disregard advice from a qualified professional because of something you read here, and do not delay seeking it.
If you are in crisis, or you think you might harm yourself or someone else, contact your local emergency number or a crisis helpline right away. SoulType is not a crisis service and no one is monitoring it.
SoulType works without an account. If you sign in with Apple, you are responsible for what happens on your device and under your account, and for keeping your device passcode to yourself. A transfer code is a temporary password for moving your data to a new device: keep it private while it is valid, because anyone holding it can take over the account. A share ID is the opposite — it is meant to be given away, so publish only codes you are happy for others to open.
A nickname you set is visible to other people: it is printed on the share cards you export from your device, and on any report you publish with a share ID. So:
We filter nicknames when you set one and again before a report is published, and we refuse ones that break these rules. No filter is complete, so every published share also carries a Report this share action: tapping it sends us the share ID and a reason, and hides that share on your device straight away. You can unblock it later from the same screen. Reporting is anonymous — we do not record who reported what, so we cannot tell the person who shared it either.
You can also email support@soul-type.app with the share ID and what is wrong with it. We can remove any published row, and we will suspend or terminate accounts that abuse these rules. Reports are reviewed as quickly as we can, normally within a few days.
When using SoulType, don't:
We may suspend access to the cloud features, or remove published content, if you do any of these things.
The app, its text, designs, share-card layouts, illustrations and the name SoulType belong to us or our licensors. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use.
The frameworks the assessments are built on — the four-letter typology, the IPIP-NEO Big Five, Jungian cognitive functions, the two-dimensional attachment model, the five love languages and the dark triad — are public-domain or published research. MBTI is a registered trademark of The Myers-Briggs Company; SoulType is not affiliated with, or endorsed by, that company or any other test publisher.
Your answers and results are yours. You give us only the permission we need to do what you ask: to sync your data when you sign in, to publish a report when you create a share ID, and to keep those things until you delete them. We do not use your results in marketing or sell them to anyone.
SoulType is provided as-is and may change: features can be added, altered or removed. The parts that live on your device keep working offline; the optional cloud features need a network and our servers to be up. You may stop using SoulType at any time, and delete your data from Settings. We may suspend or end the service, and if we do, we will give reasonable notice and a way to export or delete your data.
SoulType is provided without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that any result, reading or coach reply is accurate, complete or right for you, and you are responsible for the decisions you make.
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential losses, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of SoulType. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the amount you paid for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud — and nothing removes consumer rights you have where you live.
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the SoulType operator is established, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in, and you may bring proceedings in your local courts.
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for the app or its content, and has no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any) — to the extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and can enforce them against you. You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government restricted-party list.
